(MAKES 1 CAKE)
1 1/2 cups salad oil
3 eggs
2 cups sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup walnuts chopped
3 cups chopped & peeled apples
1 cup brown sugar packed
1/4 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
1/4 cup milkPreheat oven to 350°.
In a large bowl combine oil, eggs, vanilla and sugar mix well. Sift dry ingredients together. Add to egg mixture. Fold in nuts and apples. Grease and flour angel food pan. Bake for approximately 1 hour. Test for doneness.
Cook together the brown sugar, butter and milk. Heat stir until blended. Pour over warm cake. When lukewarm, loosen sides and center. Remove from pan.
