(MAKES 1 13x9" DESSERT)
2 cups flour
2 cups brown sugar packed
1/2 cup butter
1 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3 cups peeled & finely chopped apples1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg beatenPreheat oven to 350°.
Lightly spoon flour in cup level off. In a large bowl combine flour, sugar & butter. Blend with mixer at low speed until crumbly. Stir in the nuts.
Press 2 3/4 cups crumbs into ungreased 13 x 9 pan. To remaining crumbs add salt, cinnamon, sour cream, vanilla & beaten egg. Blend together well. Stir in apples spoon evenly over crust. Bake 25 - 35 minutes. Begin checking for doneness after 25 minutes when inserted toothpick comes out clean. Cool. Serve warm or cold, plain or whatever.
This is an absolute fantastically delicious recipe. Only problem is that after 24 hours, the crust looses its crispiness, but is still wonderful!!
